Privacy Policy
Coupongo is a coupon savings assistant. This policy explains what information the Coupongo Chrome extension uses, why it is used, and how we protect it.
Single Purpose
Coupongo helps shoppers find coupon savings on supported shopping product pages. The extension checks whether the current page belongs to a supported merchant, tests available coupon codes for that merchant, and shows a savings prompt when a working coupon may help the user save money.
Information We Use
Coupongo uses limited information necessary to provide its coupon savings features:
- Current page URL and merchant domain. We use the current URL and domain to determine whether the page belongs to a supported shopping merchant and whether a coupon prompt should appear.
- Website content signals. On shopping pages, the extension may read product-page signals such as product variant identifiers, cart forms, structured product data, and Shopify-related page data so coupon testing can work correctly.
- Locally stored extension identifier. Coupongo creates a random browser-local identifier so limited extension events can be associated with the same browser installation. This identifier is not your name, email address, or payment information.
- Limited interaction events. When you click certain Coupongo buttons or entry points, we may record the local extension identifier and the popup or entry type that was clicked. We use this to understand whether the extension experience is useful and to improve the product.
- Unsupported merchant domains. If Coupongo does not yet support a shopping merchant, the extension may send the merchant domain and related page URL to our service so we can decide which merchants to support in the future.
- Saved coupon results. Coupon codes found by Coupongo, the merchant domain, and estimated savings may be stored locally in your browser so the extension popup can show coupons found for the merchant you are currently visiting.
Information We Do Not Collect
Coupongo does not collect or request:
- Payment card numbers or other payment credentials.
- Passwords, authentication credentials, or security questions.
- Personal messages, emails, chats, or private files.
- Health information or precise location information.
- Your full browsing history across unrelated websites.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above only for Coupongo's coupon savings purpose:
- To check whether a merchant is supported.
- To retrieve coupon data for supported merchants.
- To test coupon codes on supported shopping product pages.
- To show a savings prompt when a working coupon may save money.
- To remember limited local UI state and coupon results.
- To improve merchant coverage and the extension experience.
Permissions
Coupongo requests only the permissions needed for its single purpose:
- storage: used to store extension data locally, including a local identifier, limited UI state, unsupported merchant prompt state, and saved coupon results.
- activeTab: used when you open the extension popup so Coupongo can read the active tab URL and show saved coupons only for the merchant you are currently visiting.
- Host permissions: used to run the content script on shopping pages and to communicate with Coupongo's backend API for merchant coupon data and limited service events.
Remote Code
Coupongo does not execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly. All executable extension code is included in the extension package submitted to the Chrome Web Store. Coupongo's backend service returns data, such as merchant coupon configuration, and does not provide executable extension code.
Sharing and Sale of Data
We do not sell user data. We do not transfer user data to third parties for purposes unrelated to Coupongo's coupon savings features. We do not use or transfer user data for creditworthiness, lending, or loan purposes.
Data Storage and Control
Some data is stored locally in your browser through Chrome extension storage. You can remove locally stored extension data by uninstalling Coupongo or clearing the extension's browser storage.
Limited service data, such as unsupported merchant domains and popup interaction events, may be stored on Coupongo's backend service to operate and improve the extension.
Children's Privacy
Coupongo is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Coupongo's features or data practices change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
